GENERAL INFORMATION                                                        

                                   

Janicke Tours & Safaris ( Zimbabwe ) Limited was established in 1986 at Victoria Falls.
It has a sister company, Mkuki Tours and Safaris, in Kenya, which has been in operation
since 1974.

 

Both companies are specialised in mobile tent safaris and is catering for the upmarket client.

 

We operate from Zimbabwe into Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania and hopefully
soon into Angola.

 

From Kenya we cover Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia and before the war Rwanda, Burundu and Zaire

 

Our specilality is individual adventure safaris with small groups. We use Landrovers 110 diesel
and carry a miximum of 4 clients per vehicle, a maximum of 8 in total.

 

Our clients are expected to help in bulding and breaking the tents. We take a cook who is also
responsible for the food boxes and the washing up.There is also a camp attended for miscellaneous duties.

 

All our meals are freshly prepared on the open camp fire. The standard of meals is very high.
On overland drives there is cold picnic lunches.

 

Coffee and tea are freely available and beer and colddrinks are carried, but must be paid for at the
end of the safari (beerbook).

 

We sleep in very spacious Hungarian style tents. A foam rubber mattress, blankets and pillows are
provided, but a sleeping bag must be brought along.

 

As our groups are generally German speaking, most of our tour guides are fluent in the language.
All tours are conducted by myself.

 

For the general well being of the group a good team spirit is essential by all participants. Special
physical fitness is not necessary; some of our clients are over 70 years old.

 

WHAT TO BRING ALONG

a sleeping bag, one big safari bag ( no suitcases), tennis shoes , tracksuit, a light raincoat,
swimming costume.

Sunglasses, sunblock, sun hat, medication for personal use, torch with spare bulbs and batteries.
Enough film material, as it is not always available.

Above all, patience, good humour and team spirit.
